Having graduated from University of Manchester in 2011, where I studied my degree in Oral Health Science, I moved to Oxford where I was offered a place on the Foundation Therapist Scheme. I continued to work in Oxford as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist for a further 3 years in general dental practices.

Along side my work in general practice I took a job at the Oxford University Hospitals John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospital where I still practice as one of only 2 Macmillan Dental Therapists in the country. My position at the hospital is to provide oral health care, prevention and restorative care for patients who are undergoing treatment for cancer of the head and neck. My time with the cancer team has taught me a huge amount and I continue to learn every day I work in the department.
I have recently begun speaking at some regional conferences about dental care for patients undergoing radiotherapy which is a great privilege and a new challenge.

I am really enjoying everything London has to offer since my relocation and feel I have fallen on my feet with my job here at WHD. It is fantastic to work in a practice which is so prevention focused and that offers such high standard of care across the board.

In my spare time I love to travel. I am a keen sailor, weather permitting, and I try to go home to Cornwall for some sea air and to visit my family whenever possible.

I joined the Whitehouse Dental Clinic back in 2007 right after graduating from the Eastman Dental Hospital as a Dental Hygienist/ Therapist. Following the high-calibre training I gained at the Eastman Dental Hospital; I was privileged to have Dr Burns as my mentor and to be part of a team which always strives to provide a high standard and comprehensive care, in a calm and relaxing environment.

Throughout my career in dentistry, which started back in 2001 as a Dental Nurse, I acquired the skills to promote and provide excellent oral health care with a focus on prevention. I have a special interest in educating my patients about the link between oral and general health. I am also a firm believer in providing evidence-based dentistry and take courses regularly to further my knowledge of current best practices.

After working at the Whitehouse Dental Clinic for just under 10 years, we moved to my home country, Ethiopia, for a few years. I continued to work and was able to put my Dental Therapy training into practice, treating both adults and children providing restorative dental treatment in addition to dental hygiene. It is also during our time away from the UK that I gained a long-distance postgraduate qualification in Dental Public Health from the University of Manchester.

It was with great pleasure that I was able to rejoin the Whitehouse Dental clinic on my return from Ethiopia in 2021.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three very active sons who are keen tennis players and young guitarists.

I have worked in dentistry since leaving school, starting in general practice. After qualifying as a dental nurse and after doing further qualifications I went on to work as a Specialist Dental Nurse in hospital and community settings.

I graduated from Eastman Dental Institute London in 2002 as a Dental Therapist/Hygienist and have enjoyed working in NHS community and general practice since then. My role in the practice is to compliment the dentists by using preventive, educational and therapeutic methods to control oral disease and aid patients in achieving and maintaining optimal oral health. I have a special interest in treating nervous patients and children with a gentle approach and I aim to provide a positive dental experience. I pride myself in keeping up to date in all things dentistry by regularly attending courses. I am Mum to two lovely teenagers and currently also studying counselling and clinical hypnosis to further my skills. I have a holistic approach to oral and general health. I feel privileged to work with such a dedicated team.

Dental Hygienist, RDH

My journey in dentistry began in 2000, when a secondary school work experience week, turned into a permanent weekend dental nursing job. I continued this throughout my A-level studies and my initial degree studying Pharmacology at UCL. Wanting to pursue my love of dentistry, I then went on to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at Queen Mary University London, where I graduated in 2007.

I love my work and it’s important to me, that my patients have a positive experience each time they visit us. I endeavour to create a calm environment for all my patients, with my friendly, relaxed and kind chair-side manner. My warm and caring nature is especially noted by those who are anxious about visiting the hygienist.

A firm believer in inclusivity, I have studied neurodiversity with much care and devotion. I’m passionate about combining my clinical skills with my knowledge of neurodivergents, in order to create a relaxed and accessible dental experience for all.

I’m so pleased to have joined Whitehouse Dental Clinic and to be part of a team that truly feels like a family. Everyone’s commitment and dedication is so authentic and it’s a pleasure to be part of such a professional and caring practice.

Outside Dentistry, I love to keep healthy with fitness, yoga, dance, I love to laugh and above all, I love being a mum to my two daughters and wife to my lovely husband.
