Richard qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2012. Born in London, and raised in Surrey, he completed his secondary schooling in Kildare, Ireland, before moving on to university in Dublin.
Upon graduating as a dentist, Richard moved back to Surrey to complete a ‘vocational training’ year before working as a senior house officer at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. Working as part of this team was an invaluable experience and was the perfect environment for Richard to further develop his oral-surgical skills.
Having always been interested in endodontics, following excellent training in Trinity College, he decided to further his education in this field and started his endodontic specialist training at Guy’s Dental Hospital (KCL). During this 4-year training, Richard contributed to a number of research projects and continued to work in general dental practice, initially as a general dentist before restricting his practice to endodontics. Qualifying from the master’s degree with a distinction, Richard has become a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and is registered with the General Dental Council as a specialist in endodontics. Richard has been part of the Whitehouse Dental team for over 3 years.
Away from dentistry, Richard spends a great deal of his time outdoors and in another life may have pursued an outdoor career. His other interests include rugby, reading and wildlife photography (although not much of a photographer himself, he has been a subscriber to National Geographic magazine for over 18 years) and will happily watch anything involving Simon Reeve, Louis Theroux or the great Sir David Attenborough. A life-long dream is to see a wolf in the wild, although naturally not too closely.
Prior to his undergraduate dental training, Richard qualified with a Business and Law degree from University College Dublin. Although this was a complete change in career direction, Richard has not looked back since, enjoying the day-to-day challenges he encounters as a dentist and taking satisfaction in overcoming them while also benefitting from the skills he developed in his previous training.
Richard is a relaxed, assured and welcoming practitioner, and while fully aware no one looks forward to attending for a root canal treatment, he is absolutely confident that, with the help of his assistants, it can be an entirely comfortable, pain-free and stress-free procedure.
